Had the Thai Nachos and the Friend Green Tomatos. Both were delectable. Lots of flavors. Great beer also
The Avenue is a monthly treat for me, and I must admit to looking forward to it every time. I have yet to find a meal I didn't like. Pictured are the Queso-Guacamole Burger and the Bacon Burger, both with pub fries. The Thai nachos are also highly recommended. I feel that the Avenue deserves a slot with Nicks in the Sticks and Dreamland BBQ on Jerusalem Heights as the legends in Tuscaloosa. I feel that strongly of it.
The burger - my goodness, the burger... I feel like a caveman when I order it. It's hard to impress me with a burger but this one always does, it's one of the very best around. I don't know what secret blend of meats they use but it's incredibly delicious and juicy - you will need extra napkins. It comes medium, I'm not a fan of pink burger so I get it medium-well, and it's still super juicy. Their fries are made there, not frozen, and I could eat a popcorn bowl full of them. They make their own ranch and it's peppery, which I always order to dip my fries. People that don't get the ranch for their fries always regret not getting it.
I don't have any pictures, but this place has amazing food. The corned beef sandwich is what dreams are made of. The burger here could win a medal in a contest for best burger in town. The pub fries are also amazing. I always ask to have my side of fries made into pub fries. Brunch at Avenue Pub is even more amazing than what I've already described. The scotch eggs are great... Great is an understatement, just give them a try, but you'll have to get there early, because they're so popular that they usually sell out. That's just the appetizer. The rest of the menu is delicious. The hardest thing you'll did at Avenue Pub is try to decide what to eat and then doing yourself before you've had too much. There's also a great selection of local beer and great drink choices.
My husband and I absolutely love this place. We have tried just about everything on the menu and don't have a complaint yet, as far as food is concerned. The only issue I have is it smells of smoke inside. As far as I know smoking is not allowed indoors, but for someone reason the smoke is always there. Thankfully, outdoor seating is available and We always take the opportunity to enjoy the downtown seating. Parking is okay, considering it's downtown, food and service is always excellent, the beer menu is usually a decent variety and it's wheelchair accessible. Pictured below is the Chicken Club, Steak Sanwich and Cheese Dip appetizer.
