Very helpful and quick!
After having keys that didn't work made at three different hardware stores over the past year I decided to give a locksmith a try at it. I walked into A-1 and they used a machine just like what is used at the hardware stores. So I was sitting there expecting that these keys would not work. Since they were not doing anything "special" to make the keys, I asked why the key they were making was going to work and the others I had made would not. The locksmith told me that because locks and keys are their business, they regularly calibrate their machines (something that hardware stores do not always do). To my delight, all 4 keys I had made worked when I got home. They made my keys in seconds, did for cheaper than the hardware stores, and they actually worked! I will use them for all my future lock and key needs!
However, what is disappointing is that I was told $35 dollars on the phone. I put my motorcycle on the trailer and took it there the next day (lost key). The key making process went well but once we got to the register, i was rung up for $58 dollars. I explained to the owner that I was told it would be 35 and drove by 2 other places that charged 50. He asked who I spoke with on the phone and continued to tell me that I wasn't told that. Even with 3 employees there, He told me I wouldn't have spoken with anyone but him.
Overall, the service was okay but the prices were bait and switch. No cheaper than other locksmiths. I was lied to about the price. Good service but bad business practices. He did nothing to make it right.
First off, I will say this: A1 Locksmith did fine making the key for my motorcycle. They do know what they are doing.
